Introduction

This course is designed for applicants who wish to go ahead to degree level to study horticulture or landscaping.  Also, it will suit the hobby grower who could expand into a viable area of business and anyone who wishes to work in General Horticulture.

The emphasis will be on practical work with the use of the school garden and plastic tunnel for growing food and ornamental crops.  Chemical use will be kept to a minimum for personal and environmental safety.

Course Structure

1 Year Full-time from 9.30 a.m. —1.50 p.m.

Work Experience

Work Experience is an integral part of the course where students get an opportunity to sample the work environment.  This also provides students with the opportunity to display their talents, with the possibility of leading to full time employment.

FETAC Level V Award

Career Opportunities

Employment in a garden centre or plant nursery.
Garden Maintenance, Park Maintenance. 

Self Employment:  Growth of Chemical Free Produce.  Growth of organic vegetables.  Garden Maintenance.
